Welcome to The Camp at Capilla Peak! Located in the Manzano Mountains of New Mexico about an hour southeast of Albuquerque, the heavily forested 60-acre property is at 7,200 feet (~2,200 m) elevation.
Head up the road from The Camp gate another ½ mile into the Cibola National Forest and you’ll find well-equipped campgrounds; sweeping views of the Manzano Mountains, Rio Grande and Estancia Valleys; deer, wild turkeys, squirrels – and the occasional bear; the Capilla Peak Observatory at 9,200 feet (~2,800 m) elevation, operated by the University of New Mexico; and, in the fall, Hawkwatch International’s raptor counting station.
